About 5 minutes walk from Shibuya station, Owada Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya is an incredible giant sphere on the 12th floor of Shibuya Cultural Center. This is a great place to get familiar with the stars. Through a spherical screen with a diameter of 17m, you can view the vast starry sky of about 15,000 stars and about 250,000 galaxies. The projector is equipped with the optical planetarium "Gemini III" to aid people viewing the natural starry sky. There is also a digital planetarium, which reproduces the celestial bodies and stars in the Milky Way. The place has many programs aimed to reveal the mysteries of the universe, thus they are suitable for families to visit. Watching and learning about the starry sky is a great way to heal and relax.

Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya has a total of 120 spacious and adjustable seats. Among which, 36 seats can be rotated at 90 degrees, allowing visitors to enjoy the starry sky leisurely at different angles. Though not officially designated for couples, there are some comfortable double seats in the museum. The most recommended is the last row, which does not have any seats nearby, so you can enjoy a pleasant time with your partner without disruption. All seats are first come first serve and no advance reservation needed. Thus, if you want to choose a good seat, it is recommended to go early. The staff can tell you the best viewing position.



The show time of each program of the planetarium is about one hour. The list of streaming program changes from time to time.  Usually, there are 5 programs on weekday and 9 programs on Saturday and Sunday. There are programs for children such as Shibuya Hachiko as well as easy-to-understand mythology. There are also programs for adults that professional astronomical knowledge is needed. Both children and adults could find Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya charming. Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya also has fun and easy to understand commentators.

Screening time: The screening time of each program is about 50 minutes(alternating shows and free seating).
The general screening time is: Tuesday to Friday 13: 00/14: 30/16: 00/19: 00; Saturday, Sunday and holidays 11: 30/13: 00/14: 30/16: 00/17: 00 / 19:00.  Note that the screening time may change, please double check the official website.
Peak hours of Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 14:30 to 16:00. If you want a better viewing experience, try to avoid this time period.  In addition, it is usually busy during the summer holidays (especially near the Bon Festival), Tanabata, Valentine's Day, and Christmas.



Admission fee: Adult 600 yen; Elementary school students 300 yen; preschoolers are free of charge (if they need a seat, 300 yen will be charges); anyone with proof of disability and the accompanying persons are free of charge.
Tickets: At door purchase only, tickets for admission cannot be reserved in advance. Tickets are sold starting at 12 o'clock on Tuesday to Friday, and at 10 o'clock on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Tickets are purchased at the automatic ticket machine in the front hall of Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya on the 12th floor.

Transportation: about 5 minutes walk from JR Shibuya station. Shibuya Cultural Center Owada does not have a dedicated parking lot, and you need to park your car in the nearby parking lot. Public transportation is very recommended.
Bus: Bunka Sogo Center Owada bus stop (No. 4-3 or No. 31-2 bus stop) on the Yuyake Koyake Ebisu-Daikanyama route of the Hachiko Bus. Shuttle service between Hachiko-guchi and "Bunka Sogo Center Owada". Closed: During the year-end / New Year holidays.
