How to get to the Zao Onsen Ski Resort from Tokyo? It is a gorgeous ski resort with a wide variety of runs for all ski levels. it's a pretty big resort with 3 gondolas and 38 lifts, and most of the courses are long. It is also famous with the quality of snow and its beautiful Snow Monsters. The snow monsters are worth seeing and make sure you head up to the top to see the snow monsters which are the trees covered in snow and ice. The slopes are mainly green and blue, and is best suited for beginners and intermediate skiers.

It's quite large resort so you can ski without doing the same runs over and over. You can ski from one side of the hill to another on an over 10000 meters downhill trail, and don not miss out of the off-piste next to the Kurohime Quattro lift, you can ski down to the parking area and perfect for cruising in high speeds. There are some restaurants scattered on the mountain. Angoro is a good place to eat, and skiers can also try Yamagata beef, it’s amazing. Santoro is a chalet style building for coffee or lunch which is located just right to the exit of the Zao Chuo Ropeway. Pricing of the rentals and tickets are reasonable compared to other famous ski resorts in Japan.

Narita Airport to Zao Onsen Ski Resort

Zao Onsen ski resort is located in the Yamagata Prefecture, about 390km north of Tokyo. Simple to get to from Tokyo via Shinkansen to Yamagata Station (about 2.5 hours), and then an easy 40 minutes bus ride. During the snow season, there is one daily bus from Shinjuku Station to Zao Onsen Town (about 7 hours).
